Preston Faith Forum

"Faith Junction" - PFF Youth Interfaith Project - DVD Launch

University of Central Lancashire, Harrington Building 7pm 31st March 2008 - a most important date for the faith communities of Preston!! Preston Faith Forum commissioned a short film to be undertaken by young people aged between 18 and 25 years old. It had to represent what faith meant to them and to explode some of the myths and stereotypes that surround some faiths.

The project, called "Faith Junction" because it brought young people from different faiths together, was a great success; over 30 young people got involved from over 10 different faith communities. The Director of the film was Chris Davies of The Alison Project. He managed to get the best out of people, either in how they presented their faith on screen, mixing the soundtrack, or helping to film and edit, there was a role for everyone.

The film was launched on 31st March  and it was a resounding success - the film exploded myths, it was emotional, happy, spiritual, in fact the evening was a rollercoaster of emotions, but most importantly it brought young people together to work together from different faith backgrounds to celebrate the similarities and also to celebrate the differences. There were pagans in suits and using laptops, Hindus stressing over university exams, Christians who did not fear the devil, Agnostics who believe in something greater out there, Seventh Day Adventists who exploded the myth that you do not have to be black!  Vijayanti Chauhan, Chair of Preston Faith Forum said it was truly a wonderful piece of film and that Preston Faith Forum were proud to be working with such young people of faith AND Talent.
